High-quality sleeping bag for use down to freezing point

The "DownWool Ice 2.0"-Sleeping bag is the ideal companion for trekking, camping and mountain tours down to freezing point or as 3-season sleeping bag for the cold.

DownWool® 2.0 – the better down

The problem with classic down: moisture & overheating
Down is the lightest and most insulating natural material—and extremely compressible. However, traditional down has its weaknesses: it loses its insulating properties in high humidity and can lead to overheating. This poses a real risk to comfort and rest, especially when traveling in changeable climates. This is precisely where DownWool® comes in—the intelligent evolution of down. The award-winning DownWool® sleeping bags are uniquely designed and offer solutions for precisely these weaknesses.

  • Heat output even at high humidity
Unlike conventional down, DownWool® retains its insulating properties even in high humidity—and even increases them by up to a third. DownWool® puffs up, trapping even more warmth. Even at 90% humidity, it remains pleasantly warm—ideal for both dry and cold, wet conditions.
  • Effective temperature compensation – no heat build-up, no freezing
The innovative filling consists of 70% RDS-certified animal welfare down and 30% wool from the Alps – a natural combination with high-tech functionality. DownWool® actively regulates temperature, constantly returning to skin temperature. This prevents overheating and avoids overcooling. At the same time, it absorbs moisture and wicks it away. This creates a pleasantly dry sleeping environment and a significantly wider comfortable temperature range – ideal for changeable weather.
  • Comfortable cut – more freedom of movement, less cold
For restful sleep, the body needs freedom of movement. The ergonomic cut of DownWool® sleeping bags offers just that: space for sleeping positions such as side sleeping or turning, even in a mummy position. The slightly more generous fit prevents cold spots because the filling is not compressed – for consistently pleasant warmth and maximum sleeping comfort.
  • Best sleep quality: The natural climate-balancing insulation contributes to falling asleep faster, sleeping more deeply and overall longer, more restful sleep.
  • And best of all: light & compact. In addition to their high functionality, DownWool® sleeping bags are amazingly light and packable – for more space in your backpack and maximum comfort on the go.
  • OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified: Every part of the Grüezi bag® products has been tested for harmful substances and is therefore harmless to human health.

FEATURES

  • Pillow compartment: If you put a fleece jacket, for example, into the pillow compartment, the sleeping bag has a non-slip pillow.
  • Adjustable hood with Face Baffle: The thermal bulge adapts perfectly to the shape of your head. When it's cold, only a small hole remains open, reducing heat loss from the face.
  • 3D thermal collar closes automatically in the zipper area, so that no cold bridge is created in the zipper area.
  • Drawstring pocket: To ensure that the drawstring on the warm collar does not get in the way, it is safely stored in a simple drawstring pocket.
  • Inside & outside pocket for valuables and things you prefer to keep close to you.
  • zipper:
    • Two-way zipper: Can be operated from both ends and inside/outside.
    • Auto-Lock prevents accidental opening.
    • White zipper: easy to find in the dark.
    • Underlined Zipper cover prevents cold bridges so that heat cannot escape.
    • Zipper with anti-snag zipper and lined robust webbing: This makes it even easier to operate the zipper without pinching the outer fabric.
  • Foot ventilation system: The innovative zipper design allows your feet to rest comfortably on top of the sleeping bag and excess heat to escape.
  • Pre-shaped foot box: When lying down there is enough space in the sleeping bag to point your toes.
  • Feater loops: A warming hip bag with heating element (Feater - The Feet Heater) can be installed additionally.
  • Chamber construction: H-chambers, V-shaped (on the top), pre-shaped foot area with several chambers

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL® 2.0?

DownWool® 2.0 provides an exceptionally wide comfort temperature range, ensuring you are neither too warm nor too cold, while being significantly less sensitive to moisture.
This is made possible by the mechanical composite of 70% RDS-certified down and 30% alpine wool – a patent-pending, durable and washable combination.

Down: best insulation performance

High-quality down offers excellent warmth with minimal weight. However, in high humidity (e.g., due to sweat or condensation), it clumps together and loses its insulating effect. This is where DownWool® 2.0 and solves this problem.

Wool: natural moisture and temperature regulation

The added wool keeps the down drier, as it can withstand up to Absorb 30% of their own weight in moisture and can be released to the outside. Even with 90% humidity DownWool® remains insulating because the wool fibers stand up and the Increase bulking power by up to 30%In the latest DownWool® 2.0 blend, the wool has a down-like structure, resulting in even more loft and thus insulation.
And there's more wool prevents evaporative coolingIt warms even when damp, neutralizes odors, and creates a pleasantly balanced microclimate. This means your body needs less energy to regulate its temperature.

The combination of down and wool - the perfect combination

MAINTENANCE

Washing

  • Article on the left turn around, zipper shut down.
  • Fill the washing machine only half and choose a low spin speed.
  • Wash your DownWool® products at 30 °C (86 °F) in the wool wash cycle of the washing machine or by hand – and only with down detergent and no fabric softener.
  • Run an additional rinse cycle.
  • After loosen slightly and again at max. spin at 600 rpm.
  • For stains (e.g. deodorant residue or cream): Carefully knead the stain with diluted down detergentDo not rub! Clean the stain locally; complete wash only for large areas of soiling.

Drying Solutions

  • In the tumble dryer at max. 60 °C / 140 °F, with 2–3 tennis balls.
  • Multiple runs in the time program necessary.
  • After each round: shake, let cool.
  • Without dryer: Let the DownWool® products Dry lying on a clothes rack in the air – not hanging, not on the heater and not in direct sunlight. Shake frequently!

When is the drying process completed?

  • If the item still does not have its original thickness, the drying processes must be repeated until the sleeping bag stronger feels fuller than before washing.
  • Depending on the water resistance of the outer material, the drying process can take different lengths of time (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
  • The down must be completely dry. If the sleeping bag isn't properly dried and fluffed, there's a risk that the down feathers will clump together, which can cause irreparable damage. You'll know the product is completely dry when it feels fuller and thicker than before. Damp down can have an unpleasant odor, but this odor will disappear once it's dried.

TIPS & NOTES

  • Regularly after cycles in the dryer Refresh with tennis balls to remove moisture.
  • Airing instead of washing: Wool is naturally odor-inhibiting and dirt-repellent.
  • Sleeping bag loose and dry in the storage bag store (not in compression bag).
  • When packing: stuff the foot part first, do not roll or fold.
  • Every sleeping bag needs a sleeping pad, because the insulation is compressed towards the bottom of the sleeping bag and therefore cannot retain air and therefore heat. You can find more information about the right sleeping mat here. here.
  • Occasional down shedding is normal and no lack of quality.
Our DownWool® products are made from high-quality, deliberately uncoated fabrics to ensure breathability. This allows down to escape more easily than with coated fabrics. Therefore, we slightly overfill the products to ensure their thermal performance is maintained even after many years.
