Winter sleeping bag for demanding and ambitious tours

The DownWool Hybrid Ice Cold This is a meticulously constructed sleeping bag with insulation consisting of a down and wool layer and an integrated carbon heating element for emergencies. It is ideal for winter mountain tours below freezing.

When the air gets cold, the DownWool hybrid sleeping bag really comes into its own: It keeps you warm even in changeable weather, optimally regulates heat and moisture and ensures a pleasantly dry sleeping climate.

  • Problem: Moisture weakens sleeping bags made of down or synthetic fibers.
  • Solution: DownWool hybrid remains efficient Even in humid conditions below freezing.

Why you'll love this sleeping bag

  • Dry and warm in cold weather – unlike pure down, it remains DownWool Hybrid It is insensitive to moisture, as the wool layer keeps the high-quality down dry.
  • Effective temperature compensation – no heat build-up, no freezing
  • Excellent sleep quality: The natural climate-balancing insulation contributes to falling asleep faster, sleeping more deeply and overall longer, more restful sleep.
  • Light and small in pack size: Ultra-light, robust and recycled fabrics save weight.
  • Comfort cut – more freedom of movement, a more comfortable sleeping position and no cold spots
  • Avoiding cold bridges: An Alpine wool layer construction on the upper side as well as an elaborate chamber system consisting of box and H-chambers (V-shaped) and additional side chambers guarantee even heat distribution, prevent cold bridges and ensure that the down does not slip.
  • Integrated carbon heating element: A backup in case of emergency, such as illness or a sudden drop in temperature (just 20 minutes of preheating is sufficient for the entire night).
  • Anti-slip studs They prevent slipping off the insulation mat and thus ensure a stable sleeping place.
  • 100% natural insulation and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

FEATURES

  • Adjustable hood with Face Baffle: The thermal bulge adapts perfectly to the shape of your head. When it's cold, only a small hole remains open, reducing heat loss from the face.
  • 3D thermal collar closes automatically in the zipper area, so that no cold bridge is created in the zipper area.
  • Drawstring pocket: To ensure that the drawstring on the warm collar does not get in the way, it is safely stored in a simple drawstring pocket.
  • Inside & outside pocket for valuables and things you prefer to keep close to you.
  • zipper:
    • Two-way zipper: operable from both ends and from the inside/outside.
    • Auto-Lock prevents accidental opening.
    • White zipper: easy to find in the dark.
    • Underlined Zipper cover prevents cold bridges so that heat cannot escape.
    • Zipper with anti-snag zipper and lined robust webbing: This makes it even easier to operate the zipper without pinching the outer fabric.
  • Elaborately pre-shaped footbox with many chambers to avoid cold spots and plenty of room for the toes.
  • Feater loops: A warming hip bag with heating element (Feater - The Feet Heater) can be installed additionally.
  • Chamber construction: Boxing chambers, H-chambers (V-shaped), additional Sidewall construction, AlmWolle layered construction on the top.
  • Removable carbon heating element in the foot area: The heating element can be operated with a standard power bank and ensures an optimal comfort climate without sweating or moisture build-up.
    • heating durationThe heating element heats up to a maximum of 40 °C (104 °F) within 20 minutes. Afterwards, the sleeping bag retains the heat and stays warm inside for the entire night.
    • The Duty cycles A power bank with 5.000 mAh takes approximately 1,8 hours to charge | a power bank with 10.000 mAh takes approximately 3,6 hours to charge.

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL HYBRID?

The innovative DownWool hybrid insulation is a clever layered combination of high-quality down and natural Alpine wool. This makes the insulation significantly less sensitive to high humidity than conventional down sleeping bags. You'll sleep more soundly and comfortably thanks to temperature and moisture regulation.

Why down alone is not enough

  • Moisture is the biggest weakness of conventional sleeping bags.Moisture evaporates inside the sleeping bag and Condenses at sub-zero temperatures on the inside of the outer shell. There dripping they in pure down insulation on the down lowers and weakens their insulating power.
  • DownWool Hybrid This problem is solved in a fundamentally new way. The wool layer in Grüezi bag® hybrid sleeping bags absorbs the drops and releases them to the outside. This is how wool stabilizes the insulation, It ensures a permanently dry climate and prevents heat loss in wet conditions.

The result is a new generation of natural insulation - lightweight, climate-stable and reliable under real outdoor conditions.

The technology behind the isolation

High-quality goose down
Ensures maximum heat output with minimal weight.

natural wool
It absorbs moisture, stabilizes the loft and creates a balanced wearing climate.

The combination creates insulation that is not only warm and lightweight, but also remains consistently effective under cold weather conditions.

WHAT IS A CARBON HEATING ELEMENT?

A sleeping bag simply retains the heat emitted by the person. However, often a person is no longer able to warm themselves or the sleeping bag sufficiently, whether due to exhaustion or illness. The foot area, in particular, is difficult to warm with cold feet. For this reason, this sleeping bag has an integrated heating element (Grüezi bag® carbon heating element) that can be powered by a standard power bank.

  • The heating element has a USB port, allowing a standard power bank to be connected. The cable connection is located in the chest pocket of the sleeping bag.
  • The heating output is limited to approximately 40°C to prevent sweating and the resulting chills. Once the sleeping bag is warm (after approximately 20 minutes of preheating), it retains the heat throughout the night, and the heating element can be switched off.
  • The heating element can be washed.
  • The heating element is integrated into the footrest so that the heat is distributed evenly from bottom to top and there is sufficient distance from the body to ensure a restful sleep.

MAINTENANCE

Washing

  • Wash your DownWool hybrid product by hand or at 30 °C (86 °F) in the wool cycle of the washing machine – and only with a down detergent.
  • Please turn inside out, zip up, run an additional rinse cycle and do not use fabric softener.
  • Fill the washing machine only half and choose a low spin speed (max. 600 revolutions).
  • For stains (e.g. deodorant residue or cream): Carefully knead the stain with diluted down detergent, then wash the area by hand and let it dry (su). Do not rub!

Drying Solutions

  • Dry the DownWool hybrid product in Tumble dry at max. 60 °C/ 140 °F And be sure to add 2-3 tennis balls for better loosening.
  • Perform several drying cycles: after each drying cycle, remove the item from the machine, shake or loosen it well, and allow it to cool down in between.
  • The dryer must be set to a timer program to dry the down completely.
  • If you don't have a tumble dryer, let the product air dry lying flat on a clothes rack. – Do not hang it up, not on a radiator, and not in direct sunlight. Shake it frequently to allow air to circulate around it from above and below.

When is the drying process completed?

  • Until the item feels more filled than beforeIf the item still hasn't regained its original thickness, you'll need to repeat the drying process. Depending on the water resistance of the outer material, the drying time can vary (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
  • The down must be completely dry. If the down is not properly dried and fluffed, there is a risk that the down feathers will clump together. This will render the item irreparably damaged. Damp down can smell, but this will disappear once it is dry.

TIPS/NOTES

  • Down items should be cleaned from time to time or after each tour with tennis balls in the tumble dryer be dried, so that excess moisture is removed.
  • Ventilate instead of washing: Wool is naturally odor-resistant and dirt-repellent. For minor external soiling, we recommend gently cleaning only the stain itself (see care instructions). Heavily soiled or greasy sleeping bags can be machine washed.
  • Occasional down feathers escaping These are normal and not a quality defect. Our DownWool hybrid products are made from high-quality, intentionally uncoated fabrics to ensure breathability. Therefore, down may escape more easily than with coated fabrics. This phenomenon occurs only rarely and to a very small extent, and does not lead to any significant loss of filling or warmth.
  • Sleeping bag loose and dry in Storage bags store (not in compression bag).
  • While packing: Stuff the foot section first, do not roll or fold.
  • Every sleeping bag needs a sleeping pad, because the insulation is compressed towards the bottom of the sleeping bag and therefore cannot retain air and therefore heat. You can find more information about the right sleeping mat here. here.

Elaborate box and side chamber construction

In the chest area, the chambers on the inside of the sleeping bag are divided into individual compartments. This prevents the down from shifting and thus preventing cold spots from forming. The sleeping bag also has side chambers. When turning, the insulation often slips off the shoulder; however, the side chambers hold the down in place, keeping the shoulder and the entire sleeping bag warm.
