Lightweight winter sleeping bag for cold mountain tours

The "DownWool-Hybrid Ice Alpine" is a sophisticated sleeping bag with DownWool hybrid insulation and a sophisticated baffle construction. An optional carbon heating element for emergency use provides the necessary safety buffer on cold mountain tours around freezing temperatures.

Grüezi bag® sleeping bags offer best sleeping comfort and functionality

Grüezi bag sleeping bags have received numerous awards for their excellent insulation and well-thought-out designs.

  • DownWool hybrid construction for drier downWith conventional winter sleeping bags, moisture often condenses on the inside of the outer material, drips onto the down, and thus reduces its insulating performance. Grüezi bag® takes an innovative approach: A layer of Alpine wool protects the high-quality, animal welfare-certified (RDS-certified) European goose down (fill power 800+). cuinIt reliably protects against moisture. The wool layer absorbs any moisture, wicks it away to the outside, and thus keeps the down permanently dry. The result: optimal protection against moisture from both inside and out – and consistently high insulation.
  • Larger temperature range: DownWool hybrid sleeping bags have a wider temperature range where you feel comfortable. Wool balances out temperature fluctuations.
  • More sleep, more energy: The body needs a lot of energy to regulate its temperature. Wool supports this process thanks to its excellent temperature-regulating properties.
  • Light and small in pack size: Thanks to the body-fitting mummy shape.
  • Avoiding cold bridges: An Alpine wool layer construction on the upper side as well as an elaborate chamber system consisting of box and H-chambers (V-shaped) and additional side chambers guarantee even heat distribution, prevent cold bridges and ensure that the down does not slip.
  • Carbon heating element: It can be optionally retrofitted and can be easily powered by a standard power bank. After a strenuous tour, we recommend preheating the sleeping bag for 10-15 minutes to optimally support your body's recovery.
  • Anti-slip studs: They prevent slipping off the insulation mat and thus ensure a stable sleeping place.
  • OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification: Grüezi bag® products are harmless to human health.
  • Made in Germany

FEATURES

  • Adjustable hood with Face Baffle: The thermal bulge adapts perfectly to the shape of your head. When it's cold, only a small hole remains open, reducing heat loss from the face.
  • 3D thermal collar: Closes automatically in the zipper area so that no cold bridge is created in the zipper area.
  • Drawstring pocket: To ensure that the drawstring on the warm collar does not get in the way, it is safely stored in a simple drawstring pocket.
  • Inside & outside pocket: For valuables and things you prefer to keep close to you.
  • Two-way autolock zipper: The zipper can be opened and closed from either end, inside or outside. The auto-lock prevents it from opening accidentally.
  • White zipper: This makes it easier to find the zipper in the dark.
  • Zipper with anti-snag zipper and lined robust webbing: This makes it even easier to operate the zipper without pinching the outer fabric.
  • Zipper with underlaid Zipper cover: So that the heat cannot escape and no cold bridges are created.
  • Elaborately pre-formed foot box: With many chambers to avoid cold spots and plenty of room for the toes
  • Feater loops: The warming hip bag with heating element (Feater - The Feet Heater) can be installed additionally.
  • Chamber construction: Boxing chambers, H-chambers (V-shaped), additional Sidewall construction, AlmWolle layer construction on the top
  • Anti-slip knobs on the back: They prevent the sleeping bag from slipping on an insulation mat.

What is DownWool® Hybrid?

What makes this sleeping bag special is its innovative DownWool hybrid insulation – a clever combination of high-quality down and natural Alpine wool. The result: a high-performance sleeping bag below freezing with a comfortably wide temperature range.

Thanks to its special hybrid construction, the insulation is significantly less sensitive to high humidity than conventional down sleeping bags. You'll sleep more soundly and evenly thanks to temperature and moisture regulation.

Why down alone is not enough

Down impresses with outstanding insulation performance at minimal weight – but only as long as it remains dry. In cases of high humidity, perspiration, or condensation It can clump and its losing heat outputGrüezi bag® This problem is solved with DownWool hybrid technology.

The strength of wool: moisture and warmth in balance

At night, every person sweats up to 1,5 liters. This body moisture evaporates inside the sleeping bag and condenses on the inside of the outer shell at sub-zero temperatures. With pure down insulation, it drips onto the down and weakens its insulating properties.

The A wool layer in Grüezi bag® hybrid sleeping bags keeps the down drier. It can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture and release it to the outside. This keeps the down dry and preserves its high insulating capacity.

And there's more. wool prevents evaporative cooling, warms even when wet, neutralizes odors and thus creates a pleasantly balanced microclimateThis means your body needs to expend less energy on temperature regulation.

MAINTENANCE

Washing

  • Wash your DownWool® product by hand or at 30 °C (86 °F) in the wool cycle of the washing machine – and only with a down detergent.
  • Please turn inside out, zip up, run an additional rinse cycle and do not use fabric softener.
  • Fill the washing machine only half and choose a low spin speed (max. 600 revolutions).
  • For stains (e.g. deodorant residue or cream): Carefully knead the stain with diluted down detergent, then wash the area by hand and let it dry (su). Do not rub!

Drying Solutions

  • Dry the DownWool® product in Tumble dry at max. 60 °C/ 140 °F And be sure to add 2-3 tennis balls for better loosening.
  • Perform several drying cycles: after each drying cycle, remove the item from the machine, shake or loosen it well, and allow it to cool down in between.
  • The dryer must be set to a timer program to dry the down completely.
  • If you don't have a tumble dryer, let the product air dry lying flat on a clothes rack.– Do not hang it up, not on a radiator, and not in direct sunlight. Shake it frequently to allow air to circulate around it from above and below.

When is the drying process completed?

  • Until the item feels more filled than beforeIf the item still hasn't regained its original thickness, you'll need to repeat the drying process. Depending on the water resistance of the outer material, the drying time can vary (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
  • The down must be completely dry. If the down is not properly dried and fluffed, there is a risk that the down feathers will clump together. This will render the item irreparably damaged. Damp down can smell, but this will disappear once it is dry.

TIPS/NOTES

  • After each tourDown items should be dried in a tumble dryer with tennis balls from time to time or after every trip to remove excess moisture.
  • Airing instead of washing: Wool doesn't need to be washed often. Airing the wool product thoroughly is usually sufficient—because wool is naturally odor-inhibiting and dirt-repellent.
  • Occasional down feathers escaping These are normal and not a quality defect. Our DownWool® products are made from high-quality, intentionally uncoated fabrics to ensure breathability. Therefore, down may escape more easily than with coated fabrics. This phenomenon occurs only rarely and to a very small extent, and does not lead to any significant loss of filling or warmth.
  • Store loosely and dry in the storage bag (not in the compression sack). When packing: Stuff the foot section first., do not roll or fold.
  • Every sleeping bag needs a sleeping pad, because the insulation is compressed towards the bottom of the sleeping bag and therefore cannot retain air and therefore heat. You can find more information about the right sleeping mat here. here.

Elaborate box and side chamber construction

In the chest area, the chambers on the inside of the sleeping bag are divided into individual compartments. This prevents the down from shifting and thus preventing cold spots from forming. The sleeping bag also has side chambers. When turning, the insulation often slips off the shoulder; however, the side chambers hold the down in place, keeping the shoulder and the entire sleeping bag warm.
