WHAT IS DOWNWOOL® /AlmWolle?
DownWool® is a patented combination of down and wool.
- Moisture is the biggest weakness of conventional insulated jackets.Pure down loses its loft, and synthetic fibers insulate significantly worse than high-quality down or DownWool®.
- DownWool® This solves the problem in a fundamentally new way. The combination of high-quality down and regulating wool. It supports a dry climate and prevents heat loss in high humidity.
The result is a new generation of insulation made from natural materials - lightweight, climate-stable and reliable under real, changing outdoor conditions.
THE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND INSULATION
70% high-quality duck down
Provides high heat output with minimal weight.
30% mechanically processed wool
It absorbs moisture, stabilizes the loft and creates a balanced wearing climate.
Pure Alpine wool inserts in hood, lower back, side
They dry very quickly, have an odor-inhibiting effect and insulate even in very high humidity.
ENVIRONMENT & MATERIALS
- Climate responsibility: We are creating a Greenhouse gas balance for Grüezi bag GmbH, in order to systematically record emissions and derive concrete reduction measures from them.
- Climate-stable mixed forests: Grüezi bag® supports, in cooperation with Waldemarie, a Reforestation project for climate-stable mixed forests in Germany.
- Animal welfare: use of RDS-certified down (IDF-25-79013), mulesing-free sheep's wool from Europe
- OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification: Materials used are tested for harmful substances, certificate number: 24.HDE.38124 Hohenstein
- PFC/PFAS-free impregnation: The long-lasting water-repellent impregnation is silicone-free and partly based on bio-based raw materials, BeSoDRY by CHT.
- Colors: High-quality BEMACID dyes, C2C by CHT, Cradle to Cradle® and bluesign® certified.
- Recycled materials: 100% recycled nylon as outer and inner material
- repair service: Many Grüezi bag products can be repaired to extend their lifespan and conserve resources.
MAINTENANCE
Washing
- Wash your DownWool® product by hand or at 30 °C (86 °F) in the wool cycle of the washing machine - and only with a down detergent.
- Please turn inside out, zip up, run an additional rinse cycle and do not use fabric softener.
- Fill the washing machine only half and choose a low spin speed (max. 600 revolutions).
- For stains (e.g. deodorant residue or cream): Carefully knead the stain with diluted down detergent, then wash the area by hand and let it dry (su). Do not rub!
Drying Solutions
- Dry the DownWool® product in Tumble dry at max. 60 °C/ 140 °F And be sure to add 2-3 tennis balls for better loosening.
- Perform several drying cycles: after each drying cycle, remove the item from the machine, shake or loosen it well, and allow it to cool down in between.
- The dryer must be set to a timer program to dry the down completely.
- If you don't have a tumble dryer, let the product air dry lying flat on a clothes rack. - Do not hang it up, not on a radiator, and not in direct sunlight. Shake it frequently to allow air to circulate around it from above and below.
When is the drying process completed?
- Until the item feels more filled than beforeIf the item still hasn't regained its original thickness, you'll need to repeat the drying process. Depending on the water resistance of the outer material, the drying time can vary (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
- The down must be completely dry. If the down is not properly dried and fluffed, there is a risk that the down feathers will clump together. This will render the item irreparably damaged. Damp down can smell, but this will disappear once it is dry.
TIPS/NOTES
- Down products should be cleaned from time to time or after each tour with tennis balls in the tumble dryer be dried, so that excess moisture is removed.
- Airing the product is better than washing it.DownWool® items rarely need washing, as wool itself has natural odor-resistant and dirt-repellent properties. For minor external soiling, we recommend gently cleaning only the stain itself (see care instructions). Heavily soiled or heavily soiled jackets can be machine washed.
- Occasional down feathers escaping These are normal and not a quality defect. Our DownWool® products are made from high-quality, intentionally uncoated fabrics to ensure breathability. Therefore, down may escape more easily than with coated fabrics. This phenomenon occurs only rarely and to a very small extent, and does not lead to any significant loss of filling or warmth.
