More warmth for every sleeping bag – the Feater DownWool®
The Feater DownWool® is a versatile thermal pack that can be used as a high-performance supplement to virtually any sleeping bag. It significantly increases insulation performance, especially in the colder months—ideal for upgrading a 3-season sleeping bag for winter use.
The filling consists of the innovative DownWool®Insulation from Grüezi bag® – a blend of high-quality down and temperature-regulating wool. It combines excellent warmth with natural moisture management, ensuring a pleasantly warm and dry sleeping environment – even in high humidity or fluctuating temperatures.
In addition, the Feater DownWool® It features an integrated carbon heating element in the foot area, which can be powered by a standard power bank (USB port). It provides consistent additional heat of up to 40°C when needed—ideal for sudden drops in temperature, illness, or increased sensitivity to cold. The heating element is washable at 30°C and can remain in the product permanently.
For minimalist users, the Feater DownWool® It can also be used as a standalone, ultra-compact sleeping bag—for example, in combination with a down jacket in temperatures down to 0°C. This saves weight without sacrificing warmth in the sensitive lower body area.
Thanks to its sophisticated design, the hip pack can be quickly and easily integrated into other sleeping bags. The result: a flexible, modular solution for demanding trekking or winter tours with a significantly expanded range of uses.
Grüezi bag® sleeping bags offer the best sleeping comfort and functionality
Grüezi bag sleeping bags have received numerous awards for their excellent insulation and well-thought-out designs.
- DownWool® - the better down: Unlike conventional down, DownWool® retains its insulating properties even in high humidity of up to 90%. This means DownWool® offers superior thermal performance, even in cold, wet conditions.
- Larger temperature range: DownWool® sleeping bags have a wider temperature range where you feel comfortable. Wool balances out temperature fluctuations.
- Drier sleeping environment: The blend of 70% RDS-certified down and 30% Alpine wool in DownWool® sleeping bags creates a dry, balanced sleeping environment. Wool effectively wicks away moisture and provides warmth even when damp.
- More sleep, more energy: The body needs a lot of energy to regulate its temperature. Wool supports this process thanks to its excellent temperature-regulating properties.
- Integrated carbon heating element: A backup in case of emergency, such as illness or a sudden drop in temperature (just 20 minutes of preheating is sufficient for the entire night).
- OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification: Grüezi bag® products are harmless to human health.
FEATURES
- Inside and outside pocket: For valuables and things you prefer to keep close to you.
- Drawstring with stopper: To adjust the sleeping bag under the shoulders and prevent heat from escaping at the top.
- toggle buttons: For fixing in the loops in the sleeping bag
- Permanently integrated carbon heating element in the foot area: The heating element can be operated with a standard power bank (USB port is located in the inside pocket) and is washable at 30 °C (86 °F).
- Heating time: The heating element heats up to a maximum of 40°C (104°F) to achieve an optimal comfort temperature. It can be heated on the couch for as long as you like. When used as a sleeping bag liner, approximately 15-30 minutes is sufficient; after that, the sleeping bag retains the heat, keeping you warm inside the heater for a whole night.
- Info: The operating time of a power bank with 5.000 mAh is approx. 1,8 hours / with 10.000 mAh approx. 3,6 hours.

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL®?
What makes this sleeping bag special is its innovative insulation: In a DownWool® sleeping bag, you'll immediately feel the wide temperature comfort zone, where you're neither too cold nor too warm. Furthermore, the insulation is naturally less sensitive to high levels of moisture.
This is achieved through the mechanical bond of 70% animal welfare-certified down (RDS-certified) and 30% wool from the Alps. This patent-pending combination acts as a lightweight, natural air conditioner.
Down: excellent insulation performance
- High-quality down provides exceptional insulation at a low weight. However, in high humidity (air, sweat, condensation), down clumps together and loses its insulating properties. Grüezi bag solves this problem with its innovative DownWool® insulation.
Wool: effective moisture and temperature regulation
- Thanks to the addition of wool in DownWool®, the down stays naturally drier, thus maintaining its insulating properties. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture through its capillaries and release it back to the outside in a controlled manner.
- DownWool® remains insulating at humidity levels up to 90%. The wool fibers rise in humidity and even increase their loft by up to 30%, further improving the sleeping bag's insulation.
- DownWool® not only effectively regulates moisture, but also body temperature. Wool prevents cooling evaporation and retains its warming properties even when damp, something no other material can match. Wool naturally creates a cozy, comfortable microclimate through its unique climate-regulating properties.
- The body needs a lot of energy to regulate its temperature. Wool supports this process thanks to its excellent temperature-regulating properties.
- Wool also neutralizes unpleasant odors.
The result: Excellent insulation and a wide temperature range for comfortable sleep. DownWool® is also less sensitive to moisture. This makes DownWool® sleeping bags from Grüezi bag® popular all-rounders.
WHAT IS A CARBON HEATING ELEMENT?
A sleeping bag merely stores the heat a person gives off. However, often a person is no longer able to warm themselves or the sleeping bag sufficiently, whether due to exhaustion or illness. The foot area, in particular, is difficult to warm with cold feet. For this reason, this hip pack features a heating element (Grüezi bag® Carbon Heating Element), which can be powered by a standard power bank.
- Within about 15 minutes the hip bag becomes cozy and warm.
- The carbon heating element is designed to limit the heat output to approximately 40 °C (104 °F) to prevent sweating and the resulting moisture that could lead to further cold.
- The heating element is integrated into the footrest so that the heat is distributed evenly from bottom to top and there is sufficient distance from the body to ensure a restful sleep.
- The heating part is washable and can be washed along with the feeder.

MAINTENANCE
Washing
- The washing instructions are in the inside pocket of the sleeping bag.
- The sleeping bag can be hand-washed with a down detergent at a maximum of 30°C/86°F or machine-washed on the wool cycle. Please turn inside out, zip up, run an additional rinse cycle, and do not use fabric softener.
- Remove the item from the machine, loosen it up a bit and spin it again at max. 600 revolutions.
Drying Solutions
- Tumble dry at max. 60°C/140°F and be sure to add 2-3 tennis balls for better fluffing.
- Please run the item through the dryer several times and after each dryer cycle, remove it from the machine, shake it well and let it cool down in between.
- The dryer must be set to a timer program to dry the down completely.
- If you don't use a dryer, you can put the sleeping bag on a clothes rack on sunny days and shake it out frequently to allow air to reach the sleeping bag from above and below.
When is the drying process completed?
- If the item still does not have its original thickness, the drying processes must be repeated until the sleeping bag feels more filled than before.
- Depending on the water resistance of the outer material, the drying process can take different lengths of time (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
- The down must be completely dry. If the sleeping bag isn't properly dried and fluffed, there's a risk that the down feathers will clump together, which can cause irreparable damage. You'll know the product is completely dry when it feels fuller and thicker than before. Damp down can have an unpleasant odor, but this odor will disappear once it's dried.
TIP
- Down sleeping bags should be dried in the tumble dryer from time to time or after each trip using tennis balls to remove excess moisture.
- Sleeping bags must be stored open and dry in the storage bag.
- When packing the sleeping bag into the compression bag, it must be stuffed with the foot end first, not rolled or folded.
- Airing a sleeping bag is better than washing it. DownWool® sleeping bags rarely need to be washed, as wool itself has natural odor-inhibiting and dirt-repellent properties. For minor external soiling, we recommend gently cleaning only the stain itself (see above). Greasy and extensively soiled sleeping bags can be machine washed.
