DownWool Hybrid Quilt, ultralight quilt for trekking, camping and hammocks

The Grüezi bag® DownWool-Hybrid Quilt is made for anyone who travels light and still wants to sleep comfortably - while trekking, bikepacking, camping, in a hammock, in a van or as a flexible blanket on tour.

Its particular strength lies in its versatility: The quilt can be used as a light blanket, as a top quilt in a hammock, as a sleeping bag alternative on a sleeping mat, or as an additional insulating layer inside a sleeping bag . This saves weight and pack size without sacrificing a comfortably warm and dry sleeping experience.

The smart DownWool® insulation combines 70% down with 30% wool. The down provides comfortable warmth while remaining lightweight and compact. The wool absorbs moisture and regulates the climate under the quilt. This creates a pleasantly dry and balanced sleeping experience – especially on cool summer nights, in changeable weather, or in high humidity.

The quilt can be attached to the sleeping mat on the back using the included elastic straps. This keeps it in place more securely, while the back area remains intentionally open. This saves material, weight, and packing volume – ideal for anyone who wants to travel lighter outdoors.

The closable foot section provides extra warmth for your feet. When it gets warmer, you can use the quilt more openly or as a blanket. This makes it suitable for a wide range of uses from late spring to early autumn.

In short: The DownWool Hybrid Quilt is the ultralight and versatile sleeping solution for anyone who wants to save weight while trekking, bikepacking, camping or sleeping in a hammock and still sleep comfortably.

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL®?

DownWool® is a patented combination of down and wool.

  • Moisture is the biggest weakness of conventional sleeping bags.Moisture can impair the loft, especially in pure down.
  • DownWool® This is precisely where it comes in. The combination of high-quality down and regulating wool. It supports a dry climate and prevents heat loss in high humidity.

The result is a new generation of natural insulation - lightweight, climate-stable and designed for real, changeable outdoor conditions.

THE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND INSULATION

70% high-quality duck down
Provides high heat output with minimal weight.

30% natural wool
It absorbs moisture, stabilizes the loft and creates a balanced wearing climate.

MAINTENANCE

Washing

  • Wash your DownWool® product by hand or at 30 °C (86 °F) in the wool cycle of the washing machine – and only with a down detergent.
  • Please turn inside out, zip up, run an additional rinse cycle and do not use fabric softener.
  • Fill the washing machineonly halfand choose alow spin speed (max. 600 revolutions).
  • For stains (e.g. deodorant residue or cream):Carefully knead the stain with diluted down detergent, then wash the area by hand and let it dry (su).Do not rub!

Drying Solutions

  • Dry the DownWool® product in Tumble dry at max. 60 °C/ 140 °F And be sure to add 2-3 tennis balls for better loosening.
  • Perform several drying cycles: after each drying cycle, remove the item from the machine, shake or loosen it well, and allow it to cool down in between.
  • The dryer must be set to a timer program to dry the down completely.
  • If you don't have a tumble dryer, let the product air dry lying flat on a clothes rack. – Do not hang it up, not on a radiator, and not in direct sunlight. Shake it frequently to allow air to circulate around it from above and below.

When is the drying process completed?

  • Until the item feels more filled than beforeIf the item still hasn't regained its original thickness, you'll need to repeat the drying process. Depending on the water resistance of the outer material, the drying time can vary (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
  • The down must be completely dry. If the down is not properly dried and fluffed, there is a risk that the down feathers will clump together. This will render the item irreparably damaged. Damp down can smell, but this will disappear once it is dry.

TIPS/NOTES

  • After each tourDown items should be dried from time to time or after every trip to remove excess moisture.
  • Ventilate instead of washing: Wool is naturally odor-resistant and dirt-repellent. For minor external soiling, we recommend gently cleaning only the stain itself (see care instructions). Heavily soiled and greasy sleeping bags can be machine washed.
  • Occasional down feathers escaping These are normal and not a quality defect. Our DownWool® products are made from high-quality, intentionally uncoated fabrics to ensure breathability. Therefore, down may escape more easily than with coated fabrics. This phenomenon occurs only rarely and to a very small extent, and does not lead to any significant loss of filling or warmth.
  • Sleeping bag loose and dry in Storage bags store (not in compression bag).
  • While packing: Stuff the foot section first, do not roll or fold.
  • The DownWool® Hybrid Underquilt is attached to the outside of the hammock, replacing the insulation from below. For cool nights, it should be adjusted so that it lies as close to the hammock as possible without restricting the lying position.
  • The attachment can be done lengthwise or diagonally - depending on how you lie in the hammock.
  • In very cold conditions, a suitable top quilt or sleeping bag should also be used.
