Optimal thermal protection under the hammock
The Grüezi bag® DownWool Hybrid Underquilt is the optimal insulation that attaches under the hammock. Thanks to the sophisticated adjustment system, the underquilt adapts to almost all hammock lengths and is incredibly easy to attach. It can also be used as a down comforter.
The Grüezi bag® Underquilt offers the best sleeping comfort and functionality:
-
DownWool® - the better down: Unlike conventional down, DownWool®—composed of 70% RDS-certified down and 30% wool—retains its insulating properties even in high humidity of up to 90%. This provides superior thermal performance, even in cold, wet conditions.
- Moisture-resistant insulation finishes: To protect against condensation, a layer of synthdown (100% polyester) is inserted at the ends of the underquilt.
- Sophisticated adjustment system: This means the “DownWool Hybrid Underquilt” adapts to almost all hammock lengths and is extremely easy to attach.
- Lightweight and small pack size: Ultra-light, robust and recycled fabrics save weight.
- OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification: Grüezi bag® products are harmless to human health.
FEATURES
-
Fastening loops on both sides: There are three loops on each side that can be connected with the included, adjustable-length elastic cords. Hooks are attached to the ends of the cords, allowing the underquilt to be attached either directly to the hammock or to the ridgeline. It can be attached along the hammock or diagonally, depending on which provides a more comfortable sleeping position.
- Chamber construction: Sophisticated oval chamber construction that prevents the DownWool® filling from slipping.
- Repurposeable: Can also be used as a large blanket.
-
Delivery: Underquilt, 2-stage compression pack sack, storage bag, 6 adjustable elastic cords with hooks

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL®?
What makes this sleeping bag special is its innovative insulation: In a DownWool® sleeping bag, you'll immediately feel the wide temperature comfort zone, where you're neither too cold nor too warm. Furthermore, the insulation is naturally less sensitive to high levels of moisture.
This is achieved through the mechanical bond of 70% animal welfare-certified down (RDS-certified) and 30% wool from the Alps. This patent-pending combination acts as a lightweight, natural air conditioner.
Down: excellent insulation performance
- High-quality down provides exceptional insulation at a low weight. However, in high humidity (air, sweat, condensation), down clumps together and loses its insulating properties. Grüezi bag solves this problem with its innovative DownWool® insulation.
Wool: effective moisture and temperature regulation
- Thanks to the addition of wool in DownWool®, the down stays naturally drier, thus maintaining its insulating properties. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture through its capillaries and release it back to the outside in a controlled manner.
- DownWool® remains insulating at humidity levels up to 90%. The wool fibers rise in moisture and even increase their loft by up to 30%, further improving the insulation of the underquilt.
- DownWool® not only effectively regulates moisture, but also body temperature. Wool prevents cooling evaporation and retains its warming properties even when damp, something no other material can match. Wool naturally creates a cozy, comfortable microclimate through its unique climate-regulating properties.
- The body needs a lot of energy to regulate its temperature. Wool supports this process thanks to its excellent temperature-regulating properties.
- Wool also neutralizes unpleasant odors.
The result: Excellent insulation and a wide temperature range for comfortable sleep. DownWool® is also less sensitive to moisture. This makes DownWool® sleeping bags from Grüezi bag® popular all-rounders.

MAINTENANCE
- The Washing instructions are in the inside pocket of the sleeping bag.
- The sleeping bag can be hand-washed with a down detergent at a maximum of 30°C/86°F or machine-washed on the wool cycle. Please turn inside out, zip up, run an additional rinse cycle, and do not use fabric softener.
- Remove the item from the machine, loosen it up a bit and spin it again at max. 600 revolutions.
Drying Solutions
- Tumble dry at max. 60°C/140°F and be sure to add 2-3 tennis balls for better fluffing.
- Please run the item through the dryer several times and after each dryer cycle, remove it from the machine, shake it well and let it cool down in between.
- The dryer must be set to a timer program to dry the down completely.
- If you don't use a dryer, you can put the sleeping bag on a clothes rack on sunny days and shake it out frequently to allow air to reach the sleeping bag from above and below.
When is the drying process completed?
- If the item still does not have its original thickness, the drying processes must be repeated until the sleeping bag feels more filled than before.
- Depending on the water resistance of the outer material, the drying process can take different lengths of time (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
-
The down must be completely dry. If the sleeping bag isn't properly dried and fluffed, there's a risk that the down feathers will clump together, which can cause irreparable damage. You'll know the product is completely dry when it feels fuller and thicker than before. Damp down can have an unpleasant odor, but this odor will disappear once it's dried.
TIP
- Down products should be tumble dried from time to time or after each outing using tennis balls to remove excess moisture.
- Sleeping bags must be stored open and dry in the storage bag.
- When packing the sleeping bag into the compression bag, it must be stuffed with the foot end first, not rolled or folded.
- Airing a sleeping bag is better than washing it. DownWool® sleeping bags rarely need to be washed, as wool itself has natural odor-inhibiting and dirt-repellent properties. For minor external soiling, we recommend gently cleaning only the stain itself (see above). Greasy and extensively soiled sleeping bags can be machine washed.
