Lightweight winter sleeping bag for cold mountain tours
The "DownWool-Hybrid Ice Alpin" is a sophisticated sleeping bag with DownWool hybrid insulation and a sophisticated baffle construction. An optional carbon heating element for emergency use provides the necessary safety buffer on cold mountain tours around freezing temperatures.
Grüezi bag® sleeping bags offer best sleeping comfort and functionality
Grüezi bag sleeping bags have received numerous awards for their excellent insulation and well-thought-out designs.
- DownWool hybrid construction for drier down: With conventional winter sleeping bags, moisture often condenses on the inside of the outer material, dripping onto the down and thereby reducing its insulating performance. Grüezi bag® takes an innovative approach: A layer of Alpine wool reliably protects the high-quality, animal welfare-certified (RDS-certified) European goose down (fill power 800+ cuin) from moisture. The wool layer absorbs the resulting moisture, transports it to the outside, and thus keeps the down permanently dry. The result: optimal protection against moisture from both inside and out – and consistently high insulating power.
- Larger temperature range: DownWool hybrid sleeping bags have a wider temperature range where you feel comfortable. Wool balances out temperature fluctuations.
- More sleep, more energy: The body needs a lot of energy to regulate its temperature. Wool supports this process thanks to its excellent temperature-regulating properties.
-
Light and small in pack size: Thanks to the body-fitting mummy shape.
- Avoiding cold bridges: An Alpine wool layer construction on the upper side as well as an elaborate chamber system consisting of box and H-chambers (V-shaped) and additional side chambers guarantee even heat distribution, prevent cold bridges and ensure that the down does not slip.
-
Carbon heating element: It can be optionally retrofitted and can be easily powered by a standard power bank. After a strenuous tour, we recommend preheating the sleeping bag for 10-15 minutes to optimally support your body's recovery.
- Anti-slip studs: They prevent slipping off the insulation mat and thus ensure a stable sleeping place.
- OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification: Grüezi bag® products are harmless to human health.

FEATURES
- Adjustable hood with Face Baffle: The thermal bulge adapts perfectly to the shape of your head. When it's cold, only a small hole remains open, reducing heat loss from the face.
- 3D thermal collar: Closes automatically in the zipper area so that no cold bridge is created in the zipper area.
- Drawstring pocket: To ensure that the drawstring on the warm collar does not get in the way, it is safely stored in a simple drawstring pocket.
- Inside & outside pocket: For valuables and things you prefer to keep close to you.
- Two-way autolock zipper: The zipper can be opened and closed from either end, inside or outside. The auto-lock prevents it from opening accidentally.
- White zipper: This makes it easier to find the zipper in the dark.
- Zipper with anti-snag zipper and lined robust webbing: This makes it even easier to operate the zipper without pinching the outer fabric.
- Zipper with underlaid Zipper cover: So that the heat cannot escape and no cold bridges are created.
- Elaborately pre-formed foot box: With many chambers to avoid cold spots and plenty of room for the toes
- Feater loops: The warming hip bag with heating element (Feater - The Feet Heater) can be installed additionally.
- Chamber construction: Boxing chambers, H-chambers (V-shaped), additional Sidewall construction, AlmWolle layer construction on the top
- Anti-slip knobs on the back: They prevent the sleeping bag from slipping on an insulation mat.

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL HYBRID?
What makes this sleeping bag special is its innovative hybrid insulation. The insulation is naturally more resistant to high humidity. In a DownWool hybrid sleeping bag, you'll immediately feel the wide temperature comfort zone, where you're neither too cold nor too warm.
This is achieved through the innovative layered construction of high-quality, RDS-certified European goose down (800+ cuin) and a layer of wool from the Alps. This patented combination acts as a lightweight and natural air conditioner.
Down: excellent insulation performance only when dry!
- High-quality down provides exceptional insulation at a low weight. However, in high humidity (air, sweat, condensation), down clumps together and loses its insulating properties. Grüezi bag solves this problem with its innovative two-layer wool and down construction.
Wool: effective moisture and Temperature regulation
- Thanks to the wool layer in DownWool-Hybrid, the down stays naturally drier, thus maintaining its insulating properties. In winter temperatures, a person sweats up to 1,5 liters per night. This body moisture evaporates inside the sleeping bag and, in subzero temperatures, condenses on the inside of the outer shell, dripping onto the down, which then loses its insulating power. The wool layer in Grüezi bag® hybrid sleeping bags absorbs the moisture and releases it to the outside, keeping the down dry and maintaining its high insulating properties. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture through its capillaries and release it back to the outside in a controlled manner.
- DownWool Hybrid not only effectively regulates moisture but also body temperature. Wool prevents cooling through evaporation and retains its warming properties even when damp, something no other material can do.
- Wool naturally creates a pleasant microclimate through its unique climate-balancing properties.
- Wool also neutralizes unpleasant odors.
The result: Excellent insulation and a wide temperature range for comfortable, restful sleep. DownWool Hybrid is also more resistant to high humidity, making Grüezi bag® sleeping bags high-performance below freezing.

MAINTENANCE
- The Washing instructions are in the inside pocket of the sleeping bag.
- The sleeping bag can be hand-washed with a down detergent at a maximum of 30°C/86°F or machine-washed on the wool cycle. Please turn inside out, zip up, run an additional rinse cycle, and do not use fabric softener.
- Remove the item from the machine, loosen it up a bit and spin it again at max. 600 revolutions.
Drying Solutions
- Tumble dry at max. 60°C/140°F and be sure to add 2-3 tennis balls for better fluffing.
- Please run the item through the dryer several times and after each dryer cycle, remove it from the machine, shake it well and let it cool down in between.
- The dryer must be set to a timer program to dry the down completely.
- If you don't use a dryer, you can put the sleeping bag on a clothes rack on sunny days and shake it out frequently to allow air to reach the sleeping bag from above and below.
When is the drying process completed?
- If the item still does not have its original thickness, the drying processes must be repeated until the sleeping bag feels more filled than before.
- Depending on the water resistance of the outer material, the drying process can take different lengths of time (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
- The down must be completely dry. If the sleeping bag isn't properly dried and fluffed, there's a risk that the down feathers will clump together, which can cause irreparable damage. You'll know the product is completely dry when it feels fuller and thicker than before. Damp down can have an unpleasant odor, but this odor will disappear once it's dried.
TIP
- Down sleeping bags should be dried in the tumble dryer from time to time or after each trip using tennis balls to remove excess moisture.
- Sleeping bags must be stored open and dry in the storage bag.
- When packing the sleeping bag into the compression bag, it must be stuffed with the foot end first, not rolled or folded.
- Airing a sleeping bag is better than washing it. DownWool-Hybrid® sleeping bags rarely need to be washed, as wool itself has natural odor-inhibiting and dirt-repellent properties. For minor external soiling, we recommend gently cleaning only the stain itself (see above). Greasy and extensively soiled sleeping bags can be machine washed.
- A sleeping pad should be placed under every sleeping bag, as the insulation is compressed towards the bottom of the sleeping bag and therefore cannot retain air and therefore heat. You can find more information about the right sleeping pad here. Here.
