High-quality, grow-with-your-child youth sleeping bag with innovative DownWool® insulation

The "DownWool® KidsTeen" is the ideal companion from spring to autumn for overnight stays on the Alpine pasture, trekking, hiking, camping, traveling, or staying overnight with friends. Our lightest and warmest children's sleeping bag has DownWool® insulation and grows with the child, so a new model is not necessary every year.

DownWool® – the better down

The problem with classic down: moisture & overheating
Down is the lightest and most insulating natural material—and extremely compressible. However, traditional down has its weaknesses: it loses its insulating properties in high humidity and can lead to overheating. This poses a real risk to comfort and rest, especially when traveling in changeable climates. This is precisely where DownWool® comes in—the intelligent evolution of down. The award-winning DownWool® sleeping bags are uniquely designed and offer solutions for precisely these weaknesses.

  • Heat output even at high humidity
Unlike conventional down, DownWool® retains its insulating properties even in high humidity—and even increases them by up to a third. DownWool® puffs up, trapping even more warmth. Even at 90% humidity, it remains pleasantly warm—ideal for both dry and cold, wet conditions.
  • Effective temperature compensation – no heat build-up, no freezing
The innovative filling consists of 70% RDS-certified down and 30% wool from the Alps – a natural combination with high-tech functionality. DownWool® actively regulates temperature, constantly returning to skin temperature. This prevents overheating and avoids overcooling. At the same time, it absorbs moisture and wicks it away. This creates a pleasantly dry sleeping environment and a significantly wider comfortable temperature range – ideal for changeable weather.
  • Best sleep quality: The natural climate-balancing insulation contributes to falling asleep faster, sleeping more deeply and overall longer, more restful sleep.
  • Comfortable cut – more freedom of movement, less cold
For restful sleep, the body needs freedom of movement. The ergonomic cut of DownWool® sleeping bags offers just that: space for sleeping positions such as side sleeping or turning, even in a mummy position. The slightly more generous fit prevents cold spots because the filling is not compressed – for consistently pleasant warmth and maximum sleeping comfort.
  • And best of all: light & compact. In addition to their high functionality, DownWool® sleeping bags are amazingly light and packable – for more space in your backpack and maximum comfort on the go.
  • OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified: Every part of the Grüezi bag® products has been tested for harmful substances and is therefore harmless to human health.

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL®?

DownWool® is an innovative insulation that provides a comfortable climate across an exceptionally wide temperature range—without making you too hot or too cold. At the same time, it's much less sensitive to moisture than conventional down.

This is achieved by a mechanical combination of 70% RDS-certified down and 30% mulesing-free alpine woolThis patent-pending combination is durable, washable, and provides a completely new comfort experience.

How does this work?

Down: unbeatable warmth

High-quality down provides excellent insulation and offers maximum warmth with minimal weight. Its weakness: When exposed to moisture, it quickly clumps together, thereby losing its insulating properties. This is precisely where DownWool® comes in.

Wool: clever moisture and temperature management

The added wool absorbs up to 30% of their own weight in moisture, releases it to the outside in a controlled manner, keeping the down noticeably drier. Even with 90% humidity DownWool® remains fluffy and insulating, as the wool fibres stand up and increase the heat effect by up to Increase by 30%.

Wool also prevents unpleasant evaporative cooling, keeps you warm even when damp, neutralizes odors, and creates a balanced microclimate. This means your body has to expend less energy regulating its temperature.

DownWool®- the perfect combination

The result is a filling that provides excellent insulation, is extremely versatile, and offers you optimal comfort in a wide range of conditions – even in high humidity. So you'll always feel comfortable in your DownWool® product and be optimally protected on every adventure.

MAINTENANCE

Washing

  • The Washing instructions are in the inside pocket of the sleeping bag.
  • The sleeping bag can be hand-washed with a down detergent at a maximum of 30°C/86°F or machine-washed on the wool cycle. Please turn inside out, zip up, run an additional rinse cycle, and do not use fabric softener.
  • Remove the item from the machine, loosen it up a bit and spin it again at max. 600 revolutions.

Drying Solutions

  • Tumble dry at max. 60°C/140°F and be sure to add 2-3 tennis balls for better fluffing.
  • Please run the item through the dryer several times and after each dryer cycle, remove it from the machine, shake it well and let it cool down in between.
  • The dryer must be set to a timer program to dry the down completely.
  • If you don't use a dryer, you can put the sleeping bag on a clothes rack on sunny days and shake it out frequently to allow air to reach the sleeping bag from above and below.

When is the drying process completed?

  • If the item still does not have its original thickness, the drying processes must be repeated until the sleeping bag feels more filled than before.
  • Depending on the water resistance of the outer material, the drying process can take different lengths of time (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
  • The down must be completely dry. If the sleeping bag isn't properly dried and fluffed, there's a risk that the down feathers will clump together, which can irreparably damage the sleeping bag. You'll know the product is completely dry when it feels fuller and thicker than before. Damp down can have an unpleasant odor, but this odor will disappear after drying.

TIP

  • Down sleeping bags should be dried in the tumble dryer from time to time or after each trip using tennis balls to remove excess moisture.
  • Sleeping bags must be stored open and dry in the storage bag.
  • When packing the sleeping bag into the compression bag, it must be stuffed with the foot end first, not rolled or folded.
  • Airing a sleeping bag is better than washing it. DownWool® sleeping bags rarely need to be washed, as wool itself has natural odor-inhibiting and dirt-repellent properties. For minor external soiling, we recommend gently cleaning only the stain itself (see above). Greasy and extensively soiled sleeping bags can be machine washed.
  • A sleeping pad should be placed under every sleeping bag, as the insulation is compressed towards the bottom of the sleeping bag and therefore cannot retain air and therefore heat. You can find more information about the right sleeping pad here. Here

ATTENTION: The hood does not have a drawstring in the hood tunnel. Since this sleeping bag is for children, no drawstrings are allowed, as this could pose a strangulation hazard. However, as the child grows older, a drawstring with a cord stopper can be inserted into the tunnel. A drawstring and a cord stopper are sufficient.
