Hello bag model consultation

Sleeping bags compared

Which Grüezi bag sleeping bag is right for your tour? First choose the appropriate insulation and then compare the models within their group: DownWool, wool or DownWool hybrid.

Three insulations. Different applications.

First the deployment. Then the model.

For personal selection

Warmer or cheaper doesn't automatically mean better suited. Comfort temperature and price alone don't tell you which sleeping bag is best for your trip. Insulation, moisture management, weight, pack size, and fit also matter. Focus on the comfort temperature rather than the limit and allow for some extra warmth. The usage scenarios listed are examples, not general recommendations.

Alpine Wool

Wool filling is an alternative to down blends. Your intended use is crucial: when camping, van camping, or bushcrafting, factors such as temperature and weight, sleeping comfort, moisture resistance, and the construction of the specific model are all important.

Compare correctly

Comfort temperature is not the limit temperature.

The starting point for your choice

The comfort temperature is the more important guideline for a pleasant night's sleep. Don't just choose according to the season, but also according to the lowest expected nighttime temperature and your personal sensitivity to cold.

No general comfort promise

The limit temperature is below the comfort temperature. This doesn't mean you'll sleep comfortably at this temperature. Even a lower extreme temperature isn't a useful target for planning your trip.

The entire sleep system matters. Sleeping mat, clothing, wind protection, moisture, and exhaustion all affect how warm you feel. Plan for extra warmth, especially if you get cold easily.

The differences in everyday life

Which model is a better fit?

DownWool Summer Light or Summer?

The Summer Light has a comfort temperature rating of +7°C, while the Summer is rated at +2°C. For milder summer nights, the Summer Light is the better choice; for cooler nights, the Summer offers a lower comfort rating. Also, compare the weight and packed size of the appropriate size.

Watch Summer Light · Watch Summer

DownWool Summer or Subzero

The Summer reaches a comfort temperature of +2°C, the Subzero -2°C. If nights around freezing are expected, the Subzero is the more obvious choice. Whether the reserve is sufficient for you also depends on your sensitivity to cold, your sleeping mat, and the local conditions.

View Subzero

DownWool Subzero or Ice

The Subzero has a comfort temperature of -2°C, the Ice -6°C. The Ice is therefore designed for colder temperatures. Weigh the extra temperature reserve against weight and pack size, instead of automatically choosing the warmer model.

What size sleeping bag do I need?

The key factors are height, cut, and the stated maximum height of the model. Regular, Long, Extra Long, and Wide are not identical across all model lines. Therefore, always compare the specific details.

Sleeping bag size guide

Is a three-season sleeping bag also suitable for winter?

The label alone isn't enough. An autumn night in the mountains can be colder than a winter night in a sheltered valley. Compare the comfort temperature with the expected conditions and plan for a safety margin. For tours in extreme cold, we recommend a personal consultation.

Request personal advice

How do I care for my sleeping bag?

Follow the care label on your specific model. Washing, drying, and loose storage depend on the filling and construction. Care instructions for a DownWool model cannot automatically be applied to all sleeping bags.
