Service after purchase

You can generally wash any Grüezi-bag sleeping bag yourself. We also offer a washing service through a service partner. Our washing guide

Small defects, such as a small hole in the outer material, can be repaired yourself using, for example, Seamgrip liquid.

With DownWool® products, it's important to close the hole as quickly as possible to prevent losing loose filling. Patches are also a good option for when you're on the go.

Major damage (tears or large holes, defective zippers, etc.), alterations, cleaning, or sleeping bags that are old and need refilling of the material are carried out by a cooperation partner. More

If your sleeping mat has a hole in it, you can repair it with a standard nylon repair kit.

Repair the damage as specified by the repair kit manufacturer.

Lightweight merino fabrics are particularly sensitive when dripping wet, so WoodWool shirts are blended with 50% wood fibers to ensure the desired dimensional stability and robustness. However, please note:

  • While carrying, we recommend paying attention to the backpack straps on your shoulders and stomach, as well as belt buckles, zippers and trouser buttons.
  • When washing, use a Wollwaschmittel (without protease) to ensure the beauty and functionality of the wool shirts. However, please no Add garments with zippers, hooks, Velcro, or rivetsThis could cause friction in the washing drum and thus holes.

Repair holes:

If a hole does occur, you can quickly and relatively invisibly fix it with iron-on patches, which you iron onto the inside of the merino shirt.
There are many colors and cuts, and this repair method is quick and easy to implement. Invisible sewing is almost impossible with such fine merino fabrics.
not possible!

Care and cleaning

All Grüezi bag items are washable. The washing instructions
is located in the inside pocket of the article. In the overview we have the Washing instructions for our products summarized here.

Sleeping bags and jackets should not be compressed for long periods of time (more than a few days) so that the filling is not constantly compressed.
Storing sleeping bags and jackets open and loose extends their lifespan because the loft of the insulation is retained. Synthetic fibers are the most fragile. And Downwool® and wool are more robust than pure down.

  • DownWool® sleeping bags and jackets should be tumble dried with tennis balls after each trip to remove excess moisture.
  • Sleeping bags must be stored open and dry in the storage bag.
  • When packing the sleeping bag into the compression bag, it must be stuffed with the foot end first, not rolled or folded.
  • The storage location must be dry (low humidity) and cool. Please never store in a damp, poorly ventilated basement or in boxes directly against a wall or on the floor (risk of mold growth).

Moths can't chew through cotton or polyester fabrics to get to the wool. Because our wool filling is protected by the outer fabric and therefore not directly accessible, it's protected from clothes moths.

Vent and roll up

  • Clean the product of coarse dirt, stones and other pointed or sharp-edged objects.
  • Open the valve and let all the air escape.
  • Fold the product lengthwise and roll it up from the opposite side of the valve. Roll slowly to completely expel any remaining air from the product.
  • Store the product in the protective cover.

Cleaning and storage

  • Clean and dry the product thoroughly after each use.
  • Do not use harsh cleaning agents, sharp or metallic objects such as knives, hard spatulas or hard cleaning brushes.
  • Rinse the surface of the product with clean water.
  • Remove stubborn dirt with lukewarm water and a soft, clean sponge.
  • Dry the product with a soft, absorbent cloth.
  • Allow any residual moisture to dry completely before rolling the roll up again.

Repair

Here one Instructions to repair the zipper.

Occasional shedding of down is normal and not a quality defect.
Our sleeping bags and jackets are made from high-quality, deliberately uncoated fabrics to ensure breathability. This allows down to escape more easily than with coated fabrics. Therefore, we slightly overfill the products to ensure their thermal performance is maintained even after many years.

We recommend gently pushing the down back, not pulling it out, so as not to enlarge the opening.

Sleeping bag advisor

  • The Sleeping bags with lavalan® Alpine wool-Insulation is suitable for temperatures in
They are particularly effective in very humid conditions, such as those found near rivers, lakes, or the sea. Alpine wool can absorb a great deal of moisture without losing its insulating properties.
the reason why with AlmWolle you always have a dry and warm climate in the sleeping bag
    will have.
  • For applications with high humidity and small, lightweight pack size, we recommend DownWool sleeping bagsThey combine the positive properties of down and wool and provide insulation in both wet and dry cold.
  • If you want to use your sleeping bag at temperatures well below freezing, we recommend our DownWool hybrid sleeping bags.

The temperatures for sleeping bags are standardized according to a European DIN standard. You can find out what they mean exactly and why we at Grüezi bag are more careful about them on our Sleeping bag temperature side.

Body height and width are important for choosing the right sleeping bag size.

  • Please note the text in each product description: in addition to the dimensions, it also states which body size the sleeping bag is suitable for.
  • If you have a broad build or shoulders, we also recommend the larger version in the respective product description.
  • If you want more comfort (more room) with the right body size, you can of course go for the larger version. You'll just have to warm up more air in the sleeping bag ;)

Grüezi bag sleeping bags are the same on the top and bottom
filled. If you feel like there's less room on the sleeping surface, there are two reasons for this:

  • Lying down compresses the filling. Simply iron it open for Alpine wool sleeping bags, and fluff it out for DownWool sleeping bags.
  • Some of the chambers on the underside are larger, so the same amount of filling is distributed over a larger area than on the top.

A hut sleeping bag isn't a sleeping bag with thermal insulation, but rather a liner. It's intended solely for sleeping in your own bedding for hygiene reasons, as blankets and pillows are provided. Since the bedding can't be washed daily, overnight guests must bring their own sleeping bag (usually mandatory in mountain huts).

To save space in their backpacks, most guests do not take a sleeping bag to a hut, but rather an inner liner. Grüezi bag sleeping bag “Almhütte” Offers the luxury of being more than just an liner: small in pack size, large in comfort, and with sufficient warmth for indoor use. A top recommendation for overnight stays in cabins, but also for stays with friends or in southern vacation homes, which often only offer cotton sheets or polyester bedspreads.

The zipper runs all the way around the foot end below the arched zipper. Once it's open, simply place the two zipper halves together and zip them together.

People with a wool allergy may experience a skin or respiratory reaction to wool. However, the severity of the reaction depends on various factors, such as the type of wool (raw vs. processed), direct skin contact, processing, the dyes used, and more.

Our wool is hygienically cleaned and processed into a high-performance fleece. Furthermore, the outer fabrics are woven so tightly that neither clothes moths nor down can penetrate. Our merino shirts are woven with lyocell fibers, which, according to many customers, makes them particularly comfortable against the skin. Furthermore, our outer fabrics are certified according to the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100. This label stands for textiles tested for harmful substances and guarantees that the product is safe for human health.

We haven't had any feedback from buyers reporting allergic reactions yet. However, reactions may occur in people with severe allergies.

The terms "left zipper" and "right zipper" indicate which side the sleeping bag's zipper is located on. To create a double sleeping bag, you need one sleeping bag with a left zipper and one with a right zipper. These terms have nothing to do with the preferred hand (right- or left-handedness).

There's a common misconception that a left-handed zipper is meant for right-handed people and a right-handed zipper is meant for left-handed people—but this isn't true. Anyone can easily open and close both sides of the zipper.

However, it's a good idea to choose a zipper in a motorhome that points toward the exit. This makes access easier.

  • hanging loops - If there are loops on the bottom of your sleeping bag, you can hang it almost anywhere to dry and air it.
  • Side loops: Here you can attach sleeping bags to sleeping mats to prevent them from slipping when the surface is not level.

A sleeping bag should be able to be packed down small for a trip. Please be careful not to fold, roll, or anything similar beforehand. This will put too much strain on the creases if the bag is always folded in the same place. You can find a short tutorial in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwjoFdm8fcA.

Some sleeping bags have a cotton outer fabric. This appeals to many people who prefer the skin-friendly feel of cotton to synthetics. Cotton also feels cool against the skin, which is especially beneficial in summer.

The advantages of nylon fabric as an outer fabric are:

  • More vapor-permeable, so the filling can work better. We use an open nylon weave to create the perfect sleeping environment.
  • The fabric glides better, so you don't get stuck in your sleeping bag when turning or slip out of the sleeve more easily.
    This means when turning
the whole sleeping bag gets wedged and you keep waking up.

It's a safety backup: If you get unexpectedly cold (after strenuous tours, due to illness, etc.), you can add a heat source.

This also applies if you have to sit still in a hide or want to stay cozy and warm on the couch.

The heating element is optional for the sleeping bag "DownWool Hybrid Ice Alpine" available. It is already pre-integrated in the "DownWool Hybrid Ice Cold","DownWool Hybrid Ice Extreme" and in the hip bags "Feet Heater" . It can be easily washed, connected to a power bank or a socket, and after 15-20 minutes the sleeping bag is comfortably warm.

The sleeping bag can be easily taken on flights, as the heating element is inactive without a power connection. Only a power bank needs to be packed in your hand luggage, as always.

duvets

In motorhomes and vans, there is usually a higher risk of heat loss due to the lower insulation of the windows and exterior walls.
Humidity is lower than in your bedroom at home. It's often a bit more humid, especially in the morning hours. If your campsite is near a lake or the sea, the humidity increases even further. You can either use a wool blanket like https://www.gz-bag.de/products/wellhealth-comforter or bring the DownWool duvet from home. Thanks to their wool content, Grüezi bag's unique duvets with DownWool® insulation provide pleasant, dry warmth even in high humidity. The innovative DownWool® insulation also balances temperature fluctuations, so you don't start sweating too quickly.

Shirts

Wool does not smell because Wool fibers have excellent physico-chemical properties. Merino wool and wood fibers are antibacterial and prevent odors because they break down bacteria.

Food influences how we smell. Meat, onions, milk, alcohol, or multi-fruit juices enter our bloodstream through digestion and then into our sweat, which has a strong odor.

If short ventilation is not enough, we recommend:

  1. Let the shirt dry completely; damp wool smells.
  2. Simply add a few drops of vinegar and baking soda to the wash.

sleeping pad

We recommend paying attention to the insulation not only of your sleeping bag, but also of your sleeping mat. For example, on a night at 0°C, the cold ground will leave you feeling cold even if you're wearing a sleeping bag with a Tcomf of 0°C. We recommend using a sleeping mat rated for temperatures as low as -8°C.
