How are animals treated during the production of sleeping bag materials?

The filling wool for our Grüezi bag Sleeping bags come from happy sheep from the Alpine region and were sheared humanely.
Our down, which is used for the sleeping bag filling, is RDS (Responsible Down Standard) certified.
Anyone who chooses one of our products with RDS-certified springs enjoys these benefits and the good feeling of supporting a responsible supply chain. Further information on RDS certification can be found here. Here.

How warm are children's sleeping bags?

There is no longer an EN test for children's sleeping bags. Children vary too much. While one child sweats at a certain temperature, another may already be freezing. Because children vary so widely, the test has been discontinued.
But this much can be said: Our single-layer Children's sleeping bags are purely summer sleeping bags. They are designed for school trips and camping on warmer nights. For more ambitious projects, such as sleeping outdoors (for Boy Scouts), we recommend the two-layer sleeping bag. It is significantly warmer and can be used in summer as well as during the transitional seasons.
Important: Children should still be supervised at all times and, especially when it gets too cold, should be allowed to sleep in their parents' sleeping bags. It all depends heavily on whether you sleep outdoors, in a tent, or indoors, as wind and humidity play a significant role in how warm and cold feel.

How do I store a sleeping bag correctly?

The most important thing is to store the sleeping bag loosely and airily—either hanging freely or in a large storage bag. Never leave it in a compression bag or in the sleeping bag compartment of your backpack.

Is the wool scratchy?

The wool serves as filling between the layers. You don't come into contact with the wool.

Are there different sleeping bag sizes for different body sizes?

Yes, there are sleeping bags suitable for body heights from 100 cm up to 205 cm. Our sleeping bag designations indicate the optimal body height for the sleeping bag. Buy a sleeping bag that matches your body height to ensure ideal warmth.

What different shapes of sleeping bags are there?

There are mummy sleeping bags and blanket sleeping bags.

Which sleeping bag filling material is best suited for humid travel areas?

The material fillings Alpine wool and synthetic fibers are best suited for humid travel areas.

What is the best base for a sleeping bag?

The right sleeping bag base needs to be carefully considered, as there are various options available.
It is essential to use a sleeping mat.
A foam or inflatable sleeping mat can be used here.
The Grüezi bag Team recommends the inflatable sleeping mat because it is more comfortable.
There are also some real packing miracles that can be packed very small.

The insulating effect of the sleeping mat is particularly important.
When you sleep, the sleeping bag filling is compressed by your body weight—this applies to both down and synthetic sleeping bags—and can no longer retain air. Therefore, the sleeping pad must provide this insulation. A thicker sleeping pad generally insulates better, but the surface also plays a role. A honeycomb structure, for example, leads to greater insulation performance.
An air mattress offers no insulation and is therefore not possible.

Does your sleeping bag feel empty or clumped?

If your sleeping bag feels as if it is no longer filled properly or is lumpy, then there is usually too much moisture in it.

It's best to let your sleeping bag dry after every trip. You can do this in the sun, but it's best to put it in the dryer and add 3-4 tennis balls.
