Summer sleeping bag DownWool 2.0

Lightweight summer sleeping bags for trekking, bikepacking and camping

Warm days, cool nights, and damp mornings: A good outdoor summer sleeping bag should be lightweight and pack down small, while still being suitable for the intended temperature range and use. The DownWool® 2.0 summer sleeping bags from Grüezi bag® combine down and wool and, depending on the model, are suitable for trekking, bikepacking, camping, van life, hut-to-hut tours, and travel.

The down provides warmth while remaining lightweight and compact. The wool absorbs moisture, promoting a pleasantly dry and balanced sleeping environment. This is especially helpful in changing temperatures, high humidity, and condensation inside the tent.

What does the specified limit temperature mean?

The temperature mentioned in the product title is the limit temperature T lim according to EN ISO 23537-1. This value is primarily used to compare different sleeping bags on a uniform technical basis.

Limit temperature and personal comfort zone

The limit temperature is not automatically the temperature at which everyone sleeps comfortably and restfully. Personal comfort levels are usually higher and depend on individual sensitivity to cold as well as the conditions during the night. We recommend using the comfort setting as a guide.

These factors influence your perception of heat

  • individual sensitivity to cold and physical condition,
  • Quality and insulation performance of the sleeping mat,
  • Clothing and sleeping mat,
  • Wind, humidity and ground conditions,
  • Nutrition, exhaustion, and daily condition.

Therefore, on each product page you will also find the comfort temperature as well as an easy-to-understand recommendation for the optimal temperature and application range.

Comfort and limit temperatures explained in an easy-to-understand way

Finding the right sleeping bag size

A sleeping bag should be neither too short nor unnecessarily large. If a sleeping bag is too short or too tight, the insulation in the head, foot, or side areas can be compressed, creating cold spots.

Extreme Light, Summer Light, and Summer are therefore available in different lengths. Choose the size that suits your height and desired level of freedom of movement.

Weight or additional freedom of movement?

If you want to keep the weight as low as possible, choose the size that fits your height. If you prefer more space in your sleeping bag, the next larger size might be more comfortable, depending on your height.

Frequently asked questions about summer sleeping bags

Extreme Light, Summer Light or Summer - which one is right for me?

Choose the Extreme Light if minimal weight and a particularly small pack size are paramount and you'll be traveling in mild summer temperatures. The Summer Light offers more warmth while remaining lightweight. The Summer is the right choice for cooler nights and changeable conditions.

For which season are summer sleeping bags suitable?

The Extreme Light is designed for warm summer nights. The Summer Light is particularly suitable for tours from late spring to early autumn. The warmer Summer offers additional warmth and, depending on the weather, sleeping location, sleeping mat, and personal sensitivity to cold, can also be used in spring and autumn.

Mummy sleeping bag or blanket sleeping bag?

A mummy sleeping bag is cut close to the body and is therefore usually lighter and more efficient to warm. A rectangular sleeping bag offers more freedom of movement and can be opened and used as a blanket. Extreme Light, Summer Light, or Summer models are often suitable for trekking and bikepacking. For camping and van life, the Summer Comfort offers particularly ample space.

Why is the right sleeping mat important?

Underneath the body, the filling of the sleeping bag is compressed and can only provide limited insulation. A sleeping mat suitable for the temperature is therefore crucial to reduce heat loss to the ground.

Can I get advice on making my selection?

Yes. Besides temperature, body size, sensitivity to cold, sleeping location, sleeping mat, and the intended use all play an important role. Our team will be happy to help you find the right sleeping bag for your trip.
