WHAT IS SILKWOOL?
The natural insulation made from 30% recycled silk and 50% wool from the Alps offers an exceptional wearing climate.
- Silk transports moisture very quickly from the inside of the jacket to the outside.
- Wool It balances body temperature fluctuations and provides warmth even when wet. Wool is also antibacterial and neutralizes unpleasant sweat odors.
The result: A jacket with a very wide comfortable temperature range, where you neither sweat nor freeze. SilkWool also ensures excellent moisture management for year-round sporting activities.
FEEDBACK FROM A PROFESSIONAL
Peter Fresia, state-certified mountain and ski guide with extensive industry experience:
"I was able to test the jacket not only for everyday use, but also on two spring ski tours and several high-altitude tours in the Eastern Alps. The jacket proved its worth even in strong winds and temperatures as low as -12 degrees Celsius. The highest tour reached an elevation of 3.770 meters. As an active mountain guide, I usually place the highest demands on my equipment, in addition to technical details such as function, cut, and durability. And here your jacket shines with a unique feature. All my insulated jackets, whether made of wool or synthetic fiber, can't match the comfort offered by the silk and wool blend. This applies both during activity and as pure insulation in cold weather. Of course, the pack size is a compromise, but the detachable hood offers more versatility. I would adjust the sporty outfit with a few quilted seams, a bit of pep, and a size adjustment. However, even for me, that doesn't weigh heavily against the outstanding climate performance. I'm happy to recommend this jacket to my guests."
David Bruder, climber, mountain guide and alpinist:
"I wore this fine jacket on an alpine multi-pitch climb in the Rätikon at 2300-2800 meters. I wore a long-sleeved wool shirt underneath. The weather was sunny and mildly cold (pretty much in the single digits at 2500 meters), with a fresh autumnal morning, a gusty, cold wind at the top, and there was already snow on the ground. It does what it's supposed to: moderate insulation while regulating moisture. I didn't sweat too much while climbing, and it didn't get clammy while belaying. The outer fabric seems quite robust: no tears despite the very rough limestone. The cut suits me well; it's relatively close-fitting, long enough, and not baggy. The outside chest pocket is practical for my cell phone, but the front pockets are inaccessible with a harness, but you don't really want them to be. The hood is practical with a zipper, but it's not helmet-compatible. Apart from that, the jacket seems pretty good, even for the cool and cold season."
