AlmWolle sleeping bags

Sleep naturally and well with AlmWolle

A good night's sleep leads to a refreshed start to the day. A balanced sleeping environment is essential for this. This is precisely where the AlmWolle, used in our Grüezi bag® sleeping bags, demonstrates its unique properties.

AlmWolle supports the regulation of the sleeping climate:

Our bodies release moisture while we sleep. If the humidity inside the sleeping bag rises, it can feel cool and uncomfortable. Wool can absorb moisture and release it gradually, helping to balance out moisture levels in the sleeping bag. At the same time, wool retains some of its insulating properties even in high humidity.

Structure of the wool fiber

Due to its complex fiber structure, wool can absorb and release moisture, thus promoting a balanced sleeping environment.

AlmWolle can mitigate temperature fluctuations and thus contributes to a pleasant sleeping experience.

Grüezi bag® uses "filling wool from sheep in the Alpine region" for its wool product line. It is processed and supplied by the wool supplier lavalan®. The origin of the materials used and traceable supply chains are important to us.

Why is wool the right material for your sleeping bag?

Wool has long been used for bedding and clothing because it can absorb moisture and regulate temperature. In a sleeping bag, this helps create a pleasantly dry and balanced sleeping environment.

Especially in fluctuating temperatures and high humidity, alpine wool can demonstrate its advantages. It helps ensure that the sleeping bag neither feels damp nor excessively warm.

Couples can also benefit from these properties, as wool can absorb moisture and release it again at a later time.

Sheep's wool is a renewable resource, as sheep are regularly sheared. Depending on processing and composition, wool can be biodegradable at the end of its use. The specific properties always depend on the overall product and any additional materials used.

Grüezi bag® wool sleeping bags combine comfortable sleeping comfort with a comparatively low weight and small pack size. Our Wool Plus, for example, weighs only about 690 grams.

AlmWolle or DownWool®? When do we recommend which insulation?

Sleeping bags with alpine wool insulation are primarily designed for temperatures above freezing. They particularly excel in high humidity, such as near rivers, lakes, or the sea. Alpine wool can absorb moisture while retaining some of its insulating properties, thus promoting a pleasantly dry and balanced sleeping environment.

If the sleeping bag is to be used at temperatures around or below freezing, we recommend our DownWool® Subzero and Ice sleeping bags, depending on your personal warmth requirements and area of use.

Sleeping bags with DownWool® filling offer an excellent balance of warmth, weight, and pack size. The down content provides insulation and keeps the weight down. The wool, with its moisture-regulating properties, helps maintain a comfortable sleeping environment.

Our wool expert, the Grüezi bag® sheep, explains the special properties of the wool used in front of the camera:
