What to do if the zipper no longer closes?

If the zipper on the sleeping bag or jacket no longer closes, we recommend the following steps that you can try:

1. Check the zipper

  1. Check the zipper: Check if there is anything caught between the teeth of the zipper, e.g., fabric or threads. Carefully remove any obstructions.
  2. Check teeth: Check if the zipper teeth are bent or damaged. If you find any bent teeth, gently try to straighten them with pliers.

2. Check zipper slider

  1. Adjusting the zipper slider: If the slider is loose or doesn't move properly, gently squeeze it (e.g., with pliers) to make it grip better. Be careful not to apply too much pressure to avoid damaging the slider.
  2. Replacing the carriage: If the carriage is severely worn or damaged, it may need to be replaced. Replacement carriages are available at many sewing shops.

3. Lubricate the zipper

Sometimes it helps to close the zipper easy to lubricateUse soap, candle wax, or a special zipper lubricant. Gently apply the lubricant to the teeth and move the slider up and down several times.

4. What should I do if I can no longer thread the zipper?

If someone steps on the zipper, it may be impossible to thread it through. What should I do?

As long as the slide is not broken inside, you can use your fingernail or a fine slotted screwdriver Try opening the slide a little. Otherwise, the slide will need to be replaced.

Or it's a user issue: Many people have trouble with two-way zippers. They're great, but they have to be threaded precisely.
There's a small resistance at the bottom that you have to push over, and only when the zipper is fully inserted will it open without any problems. The resistance is important because otherwise the zipper would open on its own from the bottom.

5. What should I do if the zipper's auto-stop mechanism no longer works?

Many of our products have a Stop mechanism The zipper: It can be opened to any point and stays in place. This is very useful if you want to unzip an insulating skirt for longer steps, or if you want to unzip a jacket partially rather than completely for better cooling.

The zipper locks itself, but only when there is no hangtag attached and the zipper puller is not facing down.

When nothing helps anymore

If these measures don't help, it may be necessary to replace the entire zipper. In this case, it's often advisable to seek professional help, especially with high-quality clothing or bags.
